To be honest on a load of these sites, for example bit.ly and Wikipedia, I don’t see much point in using SSL. Having said that I think it’d be a very good thing to install on a computer novice’s user’s browser to protect them more on Public WiFi, as they might not get that lots of logins are being sent in plain text for anybody to read.
